Amara is now offically a reader, well, that's what she told Luke the other day. She went to the bookstore this weekend and bought some much sought after books. She bought Chapter Books. She explained this to Luke by telling him that he wouldn't like her new books because they just have a lot of words in them and not a lot of pictures like baby books. And on her way to school Monday, with her new books in her backpack, she said she was so happy that she got to get her new books and she couldn't wait for after school when she could sit down and read them. (she has about 15 minutes after school before she starts walking home to either read or do homework). And she has been reading "the baby books" to Luke. It's great that she can do this on her own, for at least 2 years now she has been wanting to be able to read by herself and it seems she is well on her way. I don't know if she will love reading as much as I do, but she does love to accomplish new tasks and it has been so great seeing her progress.
